Biography

Italo Lopez Garcia is a Senior Economist and Research Scientist at the Center for Economic and Social Research (CESR) at the University of Southern California. His work is primarily focused on labor development economics, specifically studying human capital development across various stages of the life cycle. He serves as a Co-Principal Investigator on a National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD)-funded cluster randomized controlled trial (RCT) in rural Kenya, as well as a separate RCT in Chile, aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of early childhood development (ECD) interventions to enhance children’s cognitive and socioemotional development in disadvantaged populations. His research combines rigorous quantitative methods with applied economic theory to address critical issues related to education and child development in low-resource settings.
