Biography

Iyke Ikegwuonu joined Adam Smith Business School in February 2019. He has a professional background in Economic Development, having worked for 15 years in Scottish Local Authorities including Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Falkirk. In Edinburgh, Iyke had lead responsibility for enterprise development and innovation support activities. He was appointed substantive director of the City of Edinburgh Council's start-up business incubator projects, Creative Exchange and Creative Edinburgh Interspace. Later, he became Development Coordinator for West Edinburgh strategic development infrastructure partnership, working on key projects such as the Airport, International Business Gateway, and Leith Waterfront developments. After leaving local authority in 2017, he established his own business, Seedgap UK, which facilitates enterprise growth through strategic partnerships with UK-European African institutions. Iyke also has academic credentials with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Development Economics from Michigan (2002) and a master's degree from Glasgow (2006). He is currently a Lecturer in International Business Management where he teaches various subjects at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. His PhD research focuses on International Entrepreneurship Management. His research interests span small business management, new venture creation, SME innovation, and international business.
