Biography

Jackson Leween (Tékeniyáhsen Ohkwá:ri) is an Associate Professor in the Department of Visual Arts at Western University. He holds a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Victoria, where his dissertation explored mythologies associated with Indigenous identity. As a Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Arts Research and Technology, his work investigates how Haudenosaunee conceptions of life and interrelations with the universe can enhance understanding of technological innovation within Indigenous cultural practices. Dr. Leween’s research emphasizes land-based histories and cultural knowledge in the context of digital media and seeks to address questions of reconciliation and decolonization in the digital age. His innovative contributions have been published in various academic settings and have critically engaged with multimedia installation and performance art across Canada and internationally.
