Dr. James Adam

Biography

James Natia Adam is a scholar at the Institute of Geography with a focus on urban regional planning and development. He holds a PhD from the University of Bern, Switzerland, where his research critically examines decentralization and public interventions, focusing on how these processes affect local decision-making and land access rights in Ghana. Adam's work intertwines institutional economics with political science to analyze the implications of resource management policies. His previous educational accomplishments include an MPhil in Peace Development Studies from the University of Cape Coast and another MPhil in Agricultural Extension and Rural Development from the University of Ghana. He has substantial professional experience providing technical support to various development organizations, focusing on issues like climate risk management, gender-sensitive livelihoods, and rural poverty reduction. His publications address critical themes in governance, land resource management, and sustainability.
