Professor Dr. Jamesetta Newland

Biography

Jamesetta Newland is a Clinical Professor Emerita at NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing, recognized for her significant contributions to nursing education and practice. Since 1993, she has taught master’s and doctoral students and has been a strong advocate for faculty practice in nursing. She has extensive clinical practice experience in nurse-managed health centers (NMHCs) where she has served as a direct care nurse practitioner, administrative director, and consultant for academic nursing schools affiliated with NMHCs. Newland is considered an expert in nurse practitioner education and has provided her services internationally, helping to establish advanced nursing practice master's programs in Japan and Lithuania. She is also a Certified Global Nurse Consultant for the International Council of Nurses and has numerous scholarly publications, including her role as editor-in-chief of the Nurse Practitioner journal. Newland remains actively engaged in professional organizations and is dedicated to lifelong learning. Her work emphasizes social justice and mentorship, aiming to develop future leaders in nursing to address health inequities. Her commitment to advancing nursing practice is reflected in her extensive involvement with various nursing organizations and her recognition as a fellow in prominent nursing associations.
