Dr. Jan Riggsbee

Biography

Jan Riggsbee is a Professor of Practice in Education at Duke University, where he has served since 2017. He also directs Duke TeachHouse, an initiative aimed at supporting new educators, which he has led since 2022. His research has focused on innovative educational strategies, particularly in the field of music therapy for children with disabilities. Riggsbee has contributed to various journals, including publications discussing the integration of music therapy interventions within classroom settings and the re-conceptualization of student reflection within teacher preparation. Furthermore, he has been involved in significant grant projects aimed at enhancing educational practices through collaborative efforts with institutions such as the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill and the North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities. He holds a Doctorate from North Carolina State University, a Master's from Appalachian State University, and a Bachelor's from Queens University of Charlotte.
