Biography

Jana Mohr Lone is an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Washington and serves as the Executive Director of PLATO (Philosophy Learning and Teaching Organization). She has a PhD from the University of Washington and a JD from George Washington University. With over 25 years of experience, Jana has worked with students, educators, and families across the United States and internationally, leading philosophy classes from preschool to graduate school. She has been actively involved in promoting philosophical inquiry among children and youth, publishing numerous articles and books, including 'Seen Heard' (2021) and 'The Philosophical Child' (2012). Additionally, she co-authored the textbook 'Philosophy Education: Questioning Dialogue Schools' (2016) and co-edited 'Philosophy Education: Introducing Philosophy to Young People' (2012). As the founding editor-in-chief of the journal 'Questions: Philosophy for Young People', Jana continues to advance the field of philosophy in education and children's philosophical thinking.
