Dr. Janett Martinez Amador

Biography

Janett Martinez-Amador is an Associate Professor in the Teaching Stream at the School of Linguistics and Language Studies at Carleton University. With a focus on Spanish language instruction, she serves as the Coordinator for the M.A. program in Applied Linguistic Studies-Semantics. Janett has dedicated 20 years to Carleton University since 2003 and has contributed significantly to the field of language teaching and applied linguistics. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Language Literature with a major in Teaching English as a Foreign Language from Havana. Additionally, she possesses various certificates including University Teaching Skills from Carleton and Linguistic Program Teaching from Universidad de Cadiz in Spain. Her expertise extends to Spanish Language Testing, notably as a specialist for the Canadian Foreign Service Institute. Janett has completed Ph.D. coursework in Applied Linguistics at Havana University and has also received a certificate in Developing Oral Written Language Skills from Yucatan University in Mexico. She is committed to enhancing language education and has authored several scholarly publications on teaching refined skills in Spanish.
