Biography

Dr. Janine Brown is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Regina. She is a Registered Nurse and a Canadian Certified Nurse Educator. Dr. Brown has a rich background in nursing education, having completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing with Great Distinction at the University of Saskatchewan in 2000, followed by a Master of Science in Nursing from Norwich University in 2009 and a Doctorate in Health Sciences from the University of Saskatchewan in 2021. Her research focuses on Individual-and-Family Centered End-of-Life Care and Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD). Currently, Dr. Brown explores socio-political factors influencing Canadians' end-of-life planning, aiming to identify systemic barriers and improve public policy surrounding aging support. She is also interested in factors that promote student success in nursing programs. Outside of academia, Dr. Brown enjoys traveling and spending time at her family cabin in Saskatoon with her husband, Peter.
