Biography

Jason Boyd is an Associate Professor and the Graduate Program Director at the Centre for Digital Humanities at Toronto Metropolitan University. He specializes in Digital Humanities, exploring how computer tools and methods assist humanities scholarship and foster humanistic interrogation of digital technologies. His academic background encompasses nineteenth-century studies, queer studies, and early modern theatre history. Boyd's teaching interests focus on the creative and critical uses of digital media within literary contexts, including digital scholarship and literature in games. He is a leading collaborator in the international scholarly project Records of Early English Drama (REED), which includes initiatives such as the Patrons Performances database and the Early Modern London Theatres (EMLoT) project. Currently, he is involved in the Texting Wilde Project, funded by the Social Science and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) Insight Development Grant, where he explores methods of computer-assisted analysis of life-writing texts. Boyd also serves as the Director of TMU's Centre for Digital Humanities and the Assistant Director of the Digital Humanities Summer Institute (DHSI) at the University of Victoria, participating in several advisory boards for large-scale digital humanities projects.
