Biography

Javian Brabham is an Assistant Professor in Music Education and the Director of Brass Studies at New York University. Previously, he served as an Assistant Professor and Trumpet Brass Area Chair at Valdosta State University from 2019 to 2024 and as the Assistant Director of Bands at Young Harris College from 2018 to 2019. An active performer, Brabham is the Principal Trumpet with the Albany Symphony Orchestra and has performed with prominent groups including the American Composers Orchestra, New York Pops, and Boise Philharmonic Orchestra. He is a founding member of the Brookwood Trio, which has captivated audiences with its unique blend of trumpet, tuba, and piano. Brabham's students have gained admission to leading undergraduate and graduate programs across the country and have secured K-12 teaching positions. He earned a Bachelor of Music Education from Florida State University, a Master of Music in Performance from the University of New Mexico, and a Doctor of Music Performance from Florida State University, where he also worked as a graduate assistant in trumpet. He holds active memberships in various professional organizations such as the International Trumpet Guild and the National Association for Music Education.
