Biography

Jayce Ogren established a new generation of innovative and versatile conductors in the realm of symphonic concerts, pioneering community service programs, and operatic world premieres. He is the Music Director of the Monterey Symphony in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, and serves as an Assistant Professor of Music at the University of Michigan, conducting the Philharmonia Orchestra and Contemporary Directions Ensemble, as well as the Michigan Youth Symphony Orchestra. In the 2022-2023 season, Ogren has conducted various prestigious orchestras including the Dallas Symphony and the Detroit Symphony. He began his career as an Assistant Conductor with the Cleveland Orchestra and has worked with many of the world’s leading orchestras, including the BBC Symphony and New York Philharmonic. Ogren has also collaborated with notable artists, conducting the U.S. premiere of Rufus Wainwright's opera Prima Donna and engaging in innovative projects blending education with performance, notably at Carnegie Hall. He received his degrees from St. Olaf College and the New England Conservatory, and as a Fulbright Scholar, has contributed significantly to orchestral education.
