Biography

Jean Madsen is a Professor at Texas A&M University and the director of the Qualitative Research Education Leadership Research Center (ELRC). Her work primarily focuses on qualitative research projects examining aspects such as school decentralization and the recruitment and retention of teachers of color. Jean's research interests include studying workplace relationships and the effects of inclusion, particularly in educational contexts influenced by changing demographics. Madsen's scholarly contributions include over 25 peer-reviewed articles and 80 presentations at various educational associations, including the American Educational Research Association and the University Council for Educational Administration. Her research has appeared in prestigious journals such as the American Educational Research Journal and the Teachers College Record. Jean has also published several books, one of which was nominated for the Grawemeyer Award in Education. Apart from her research and teaching, she serves on several editorial boards, contributing her expertise to the academic community. She holds a Ph.D. in Educational Administration from the University of Kansas, a Master’s in Special Education from Creighton University, and a Bachelor’s in Secondary Education from Mount Mercy College.
