Dr. Jeans Santana

Biography

Jeans Miguel Santana is a board-certified anesthesiologist specializing in managing patients undergoing cardiac procedures, including open heart surgery and electrophysiology studies. He obtained his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in 2017 and completed his anesthesiology residency at affiliated hospitals in 2021, where he was elected Chief Resident and a lifetime member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. In 2022, he completed an adult cardiothoracic fellowship at Tufts Medical Center. Dr. Santana has been an active member of the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists and the American Society of Anesthesiologists, serving on several committees focused on quality, safety, and education. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the Yale School of Medicine and serves as the Anesthesia Clerkship Site Director at Horstmann House Affiliate, Bridgeport Hospital. Additionally, he is a special faculty member of Fairfield University's student registered nurse anesthesia program. His research interests include community outreach, patient satisfaction, engagement, and education, particularly in transesophageal echocardiography. He maintains an active YouTube channel to educate a global audience.
