Dr. Jeffrey Siirola

Biography

Jeff Siirola is a Professor of Engineering Practice at Purdue University within the Davidson School of Chemical Engineering. He retired from Eastman Chemical Company in 2011, where he had a distinguished career spanning over 39 years as a Technology Fellow. In addition to his role at Purdue, he serves as an Adjunct Professor of Chemical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. Professor Siirola's teaching focuses on various aspects of chemical engineering, including Design Analysis Processing Systems and Chemical Process Technology. His research interests cover a range of topics such as chemical process synthesis, computer-aided conceptual process engineering, and sustainable development. Siirola is recognized for his contributions to chemical engineering education and has been involved with the American Chemical Society, as well as National Research Council and National Science Foundation panels. He has received multiple awards for his achievements in the field, including the AIChE Evans Chemical Engineering Practice Award and being inducted into the National Academy of Engineering in 2005. He was also President of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and has significantly contributed to the advancement of chemical engineering practices.
