Biography

Jeffrey J. Sindelar is a Professor and Extension Meat Specialist in the Department of Animal Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He received his Bachelor of Science in Animal Science with a meats emphasis from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1999, followed by a Master of Science in Animal Science/Meat Science from Michigan State University in 2002, and a Doctorate in Philosophy in Meat Science from Iowa State University in 2006. Sindelar joined the Department of Animal Sciences in 2007, achieving tenure and promotion to Associate Professor in 2012. His responsibilities include providing assistance to meat processors in product development, regulatory compliance, and conducting workshops and training programs. His research focuses on the sensory characteristics of processed meats, intervention strategies for controlling pathogenic bacteria, and relevant food safety technologies. He has a proven track record with 40 refereed journal articles, 100 abstracts, and has given 750 presentations on Meat Science and Food Safety topics. Sindelar holds one patent and has published several monographs and book chapters related to his field.
