Biography

Professor Jenna Koenen conducts research on teaching and learning processes in chemistry with a focus on school and university levels. Her research interests include the diagnosis, development, and promotion of scientific inquiry, as well as the development and evaluation of teaching materials such as worked examples. Professor Koenen has significant experience in teacher training in the subjects of chemistry and mathematics at the University of Duisburg-Essen. She completed her doctoral studies in the field of chemistry education while working with a research group in the graduate school 'Teaching and Learning Science'. Following this, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Humboldt University of Berlin in the School of Analytical Sciences Adlershof (Chemistry Education) and at the University of Hamburg on a project that investigated how professional teachers' actions can promote subject-based learning under changing social conditions. Since 2018, Professor Koenen has been a faculty member in the Chemistry Education department at the Technical University of Munich School of Education.
