Dr. Jennifer Freeman

Biography

Dr. Jennifer Freeman is a Professor of Psychiatry at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University and the Director of the Pediatric Anxiety Research Center (PARC) at Bradley Hospital. She has dedicated over twenty years building PARC's research and clinical programs, focusing on innovative models of care for pediatric anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Dr. Freeman has received significant funding from the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) and the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) for her research. Her work centers on cognitive-behavioral treatment (CBT) for pediatric anxiety disorders, including developing targeted augmentation approaches for treatment-resistant youth. She has also worked extensively in disseminating effective CBT training for community therapists. Her research includes large randomized controlled trials and collaborates on federal studies to enhance treatment efficacy. As the Associate Director of Research at Bradley Hospital, Dr. Freeman leads efforts to bridge research with clinical practice, involving community engagement and integration of varied stakeholders. In her educational role, she is committed to mentoring trainees, from undergraduate psychology students to post-doctoral fellows, thus contributing to the field of clinical psychology and advancing the training mission within her department.
