Dr. Jennifer Gunn

Biography

Hailed as a 'virtuosic poise' and 'a dazzling piccolo virtuoso,' Jennifer M. Gunn is a prominent Piccolo Lecturer at Northwestern University's Bienen School of Music. She previously held the position of Piccolo with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, where she was appointed in 2005 under Maestro Daniel Barenboim. Jennifer’s musical journey includes significant participation in the MusicNow Series and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, as well as advocacy through the Dream Loud Music Education Campaign. She has performed solo and orchestral pieces, debuting with her flute in the MusicNow series and utilizing her piccolo in Vivaldi’s works. Jennifer has collaborated with other musicians and ensembles throughout the Chicagoland area and beyond, participating in various music festivals such as the Sunflower Music Festival and the Arizona Music Festival. As a highly sought-after clinician, she has taught masterclasses both nationally and internationally, including guest appearances in renowned institutions like Carnegie Hall and the University of Texas at Austin. With a Bachelor of Music degree from Duquesne University, she studied under notable instructors and continues to engage the next generation of musicians through effective coaching and instruction.
