Biography

Jennifer Hall is a Senior Lecturer in Mathematics Education at Monash University. Before joining Monash, she worked as a Post-Doctoral Scholar at the University of Calgary, where she was supervised by Dr. Jo Towers. Her research encompasses a SSHRC-funded project titled 'Mathematics Experiences, Images, Identities,' examining student experiences learning mathematics in Canadian schools and how these experiences influence their images of mathematics and mathematical identities. Jennifer completed her Ph.D. in 2013, focusing on how societal views of mathematics and mathematicians influence elementary students. Her interests include the relationships that students form with mathematics, particularly the impact of in- and out-of-school experiences. She has a specific focus on gendered relationships within math education, as well as the experiences of university mathematics students and pre-service teachers regarding numeracy and the LANTITE test.
