Dr. Jennifer Holme

Biography

Jennifer J. Holme is a Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy at the University of Texas at Austin. Her research focuses on the politics and implementation of educational policy, with specific interests in teacher turnover, school diversity, and the intersection of housing and education. Holme received her Ph.D. in Education Policy (Urban Schooling) from the University of California, Los Angeles, and her Ed.M. in Administration, Planning, and Social Policy from Harvard University. Previously, she earned a B.A. in Sociology, also from UCLA, graduating magna cum laude. Her work has been published in prominent academic journals such as Educational Researcher, Review of Research in Education, Teachers College Record, and Educational Policy. Holme's contributions to research include examining the systemic factors that shape educational opportunity, particularly focusing on housing policy and teacher labor markets. She was a Principal Investigator on several studies concerning educational equity and the impact of socio-economic factors on education. Furthermore, her courses revolve around educational policy research, with a strong emphasis on poverty and social context in education.
