Biography

Jennifer Sacheck is a Provost's Professor and Chair of the Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences at Brown University School of Public Health. She obtained her PhD in Nutrition Science from the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University in 2001, completing her post-doctoral work at Harvard Medical School in Cell Biology. Prior to her current appointment, she served as an Assistant and then Associate Professor of Nutrition at Tufts University from 2005 to 2018 and held the inaugural Sanofi Professor of Prevention and Wellness Chair at the Milken Institute School of Public Health until 2025. Her research focuses on the intersection of nutrition and physical activity, specifically addressing pediatric health disparities. She has conducted extensive research in obesity and chronic disease prevention across various community settings, with recent projects examining food insecurity and food literacy. Dr. Sacheck's work includes NIH-funded studies aimed at understanding the impact of dietary factors on youth and developing community-based interventions to enhance physical activity and health outcomes among low-income children. She is a recognized member of national advisory committees, focusing on youth health initiatives and sports policy.
