Jeroen Jansz is a Full Professor at Erasmus University Rotterdam, holding the Chair of Communication Media in the Department of Media & Communication. He is a member of the Erasmus Research Centre Media, Culture, History & Society (ERMeCHS) and teaches in the International Bachelor's programme in Communication Media and the international Master's programme in Media, Culture, and Society. Between 2019 and 2024, he served as the Academic Director of EUR's Community Learning & Innovation team, where he initiated and supported educational innovation. His research examines the ubiquity of the digital media landscape with the aim of understanding and explaining the evolving relationships between media consumers and producers in contemporary participatory culture. Jansz focuses particularly on interactive entertainment media, especially video and computer games. Additionally, he serves as the Chair of the Scientific Council on Media Literacy in the Netherlands and is part of the European Experts Board for PEGI.
