Dr. Jeroen Van Wijngaarden

Biography

Jeroen van Wijngaarden is an associate professor in Health Services Management & Organisation at Erasmus University Rotterdam. He has a strong background in health services research, focusing on access to care for people in vulnerable circumstances. His work emphasizes organizing support for individuals facing multiple health-related challenges by facilitating cooperation within social networks that involve clients, informal caregivers, and various professionals and organizations. Over the years, he has led numerous studies aimed at enhancing care for the elderly, stroke patients, those with dementia, and individuals in palliative care. In 2020, he established the Carelab Rotterdam, a collaborative workspace with the municipality and universities aimed at improving care for vulnerable populations. Alongside directing projects and supervising master's and PhD students, he has been actively involved in revising education programs in health care management. His teaching experience spans 25 years across bachelor and master programs at the Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management.
