Biography

Jess Wilson is a Research Officer at the School of Population Health, University of New South Wales, where she is involved in the MRFF funded project aimed at creating a comprehensive care model for transgender individuals in prisons. She completed her Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) from the University of Newcastle in 2019 and has worked on various public health and mental health research initiatives across institutions such as the Murdoch Children's Research Institute, La Trobe University, and the University of Tasmania. Currently, Jess is pursuing her PhD in Social Work at the University of Tasmania, expected to be completed by 2027, focusing on supporting the mental health of transgender and gender-diverse young people in Australia. Her research interests include older adult mental health, telehealth, digital interventions, and LGBTQ+ health and wellbeing. Jess has experience in both qualitative and quantitative methodologies, including participatory co-design research, reflexive thematic analysis, and psychometric analysis.
