Biography

Jessica Duncan is an Associate Professor of Politics and Food Systems Transformations committed to social justice through her research and education. Her work focuses on the participation in food governance processes and the potential of food policies to foster sustainable food systems transformation. She holds a PhD in Food Policy from City University London and is the author of the book 'Global Food Security Governance: Civil Society Engagement in the Reformed Committee on World Food Security' published by Routledge in 2015. Jessica has co-edited significant academic volumes including the 'Handbook of Sustainable and Regenerative Food Systems' (2021) and 'Sustainable Food Futures: Multidisciplinary Solutions' (2017). She has been a member of the editorial board for the journal Sociologia Ruralis and served as a founding Board Member of the Centre for Unusual Collaborations. In 2019-2020, she was an expert on the EU Standing Committee on Agricultural Research’s Foresight Team. Jessica received the Teacher of the Year award at Wageningen University in 2017, and was recognized in subsequent years. She has also secured funding and developed a storytelling training series designed to help students effectively communicate the significance of their work.
