Dr. Jessica Strid

Biography

Jessica Strid is a professor in Cellular Immunology within the Department of Immunology and Inflammation at Imperial College London. She holds an MSc degree from the Danish University of Pharmaceutical Sciences in Copenhagen and a PhD in immunology from the Institute of Child Health at University College London, UK. Her research focuses on food allergy and skin immunology, with a particular interest in the role of immune cells in regulating epithelial cell homeostasis and responses to stress. After her doctoral studies, she joined Adrian Hayday's research group at King's College London, which was supported by Cancer Research UK. In 2012, she took on a Lecturer position at Imperial College London and became an independent group leader. Her laboratory's work investigates immune-surveillance of epithelial surfaces, emphasizing the origins of Type 2 immunity and immune stress-surveillance in host defense. She is actively involved in teaching and mentoring, contributing to higher degree courses in Immunology, Infection, Immunity, and Molecular Medicine. Jessica has received several accolades, including the Wellcome Trust New Investigator Award and the Department of Medicine Teaching Award for her excellence in teaching.
