I’m a linguist based at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, focusing on sociolinguistics and multilingualism. My research encompasses various aspects of multilingual practices, language variation and change, and the impact of migration on language use in the classroom. I strongly emphasize the importance of interpreting linguistic research for diverse audiences and aim to make my work relevant to contemporary social issues. Central to my research is understanding how multilingual and multilectal speakers utilize linguistic resources to express their identities and perspectives. My interests include investigating small-scale multilingualism, language ideologies, sociolinguistics, language rights, and the documentation of Aboriginal Australian languages, especially Celtic languages. I am currently engaged in fieldwork in Arnhem Land, a highly multilingual region in northern Australia. Recent projects include the documentation of the Burarra language and collaborating with community organizations to record artists' narratives. I co-founded the award-winning Linguistics Roadshow, an interactive showcase designed to illustrate the science of language to high school students, and I have extensive experience working in schools and Indigenous community institutions in Arnhem Land and north-west Victoria.
