Biography

Joanna Haywood joined the Faculty of Education at the University of Cambridge in 2016. She initially worked alongside Elaine Wilson in the Chemistry PGCE course and currently leads the course while contributing to Science-wide PGCE sessions. Joanna also supervises the MEd course and serves as the Director of Studies and Admissions Tutor for Chemistry Science at Homerton College, Cambridge. Her background includes teaching in local state secondary schools within the 11-19 age range. Before her current position, Joanna held roles as Head of Chemistry, Head of Science, and IB Coordinator, showcasing her extensive experience in various educational environments. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she has been involved in national and international science education projects and has participated in workshop development for teacher development initiatives, including those for the British Council and the Pakistan Board. Joanna has also contributed as a board member for educational publishing at the Royal Society of Chemistry and served as MEd Supervisor at the University of Cambridge.
