Biography

Joanne Rotermundt-de la Parra is an Associate Professor at Queen's University in the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures. With a PhD in Cultural Studies from Queen’s University, obtained in 2015, and a Master's degree in Spanish Language Literature from the University of Western, she also holds a Bachelor’s degree from York University. Since 1989, she has been dedicated to teaching Spanish at all levels, promoting student learning by providing guidance and positive support. Her efforts focus on enhancing students' abilities to communicate effectively in Spanish while exposing them to the rich diversity of Spanish-speaking cultures. Currently, she is engaged in a research project that applies Jungian analysis to Cervantes' novel, 'Los trabajos de Persiles y Sigismunda', alongside developing an advanced grammar-through-translation textbook. Additionally, she teaches various Spanish courses, including advanced grammar and translation, and introductory Spanish courses.
