Joel Green is an established trombonist, clinician, and educator based in Winnipeg, Canada. He has performed with notable Manitoba artists including Royal Canoe, JP Hoe, and Begonia. Prior to his move to Winnipeg in 2012, Joel freelanced in Toronto where he collaborated with luminaries such as Frank Sinatra Jr., Michael Bublé, and Andrea Bocelli. An experienced pit orchestra musician, Green has participated in productions of numerous musicals including 'Wicked,' 'Full Monty,' and 'Dirty Dancing.' He performed with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, and at the Museum of Modern Art’s 'Bang Can' New Music Festival in New York City. As a faculty MPS instructor, Joel teaches jazz trombone and is heavily involved in community music camps across Ontario and Manitoba. He completed his Master’s degree at Brandon University in 2019 and is currently pursuing research into hip-hop and gospel music, focusing on developing innovative pedagogical approaches to improvisation and self-driven learning. Joel is also a member of the vibrant Dirty Catfish Brass Band, contributing to the rich musical culture of Manitoba.
