Biography

Joel Koopman is the Benton Cocanougher Chair of Business and Doctoral Program Coordinator at Mays Business School, Texas A&M University. Before joining Mays, he was faculty at the University of Cincinnati for three years. He received his Ph.D. in Management from Michigan State University and earned both his B.S. and M.A. from the University of Florida. His research interests encompass organizational justice, self-regulation, employee well-being, prosocial behavior, motivational processes, and research methodology. Koopman's work has been published in prestigious outlets such as the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, and Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes. He serves on the editorial boards of these journals and holds the position of Associate Editor for Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes. Throughout his career, he has received multiple accolades, including the Academy of Management’s Human Resources Division Early Career Achievement Award and the David P. Lepak Service Award, as well as the 2022 SIOP Distinguished Early Career Contributions Award. Additionally, he has been recognized as a “best reviewer” for esteemed journals.
