Dr. Joep Hofhuis

Biography

Joep Hofhuis is affiliated with the Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication at Erasmus University Rotterdam. He is known for his expertise in intercultural organizational communication and has a PhD in social organizational psychology from the University of Groningen, awarded in 2012. His research focuses on the intersection of communication science, organizational science, and cross-cultural psychology, specifically looking at how organizations communicate cultural diversity and the impact on stakeholders. Additionally, he explores the relationship between intercultural communication competence and individual, team, and organizational effectiveness. Hofhuis conducts research on the influence of digital media on social identities and perceptions of diversity. He is active in several academic positions including associate professor at the Amsterdam School of International Business, co-founder of the Intercultural Communication and Diversity division, and editorial board member of the International Journal of Intercultural Relations.
