Biography

Johan Järlehed is a Professor at the University of Gothenburg, specializing in Multilingualism within the Department of Swedish, Multilingualism, and Language Technology. He earned his PhD in 2008, focusing on the visual campaigns of the Basque language movement from 1970 to 2001. Following his doctoral studies, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for European Studies (CERGU) and has held significant academic positions, including a senior lectureship at Linköping University's Department of Culture and Communication. His research primarily explores the relationship between language and social change, particularly in urban settings, aiming to understand how linguistic ideologies and practices influence social dynamics.
