Dr. Johanne Smith Nielsen

Biography

Johanne Smith-Nielsen is an Associate Professor and licensed clinical psychologist at the University of Copenhagen. With extensive experience in interdisciplinary research collaboration, she focuses on societal outreach related to caregiver and child mental health. Her primary research interests include early detection and screening of postpartum depression, interventions targeting at-risk children and their caregivers, and implementation research for practical applications of research findings. Smith-Nielsen is the Principal Investigator for several projects aimed at promoting child-adult interaction quality in center-based childcare, evaluating parenting programs, and examining the social and emotional dynamics during family mealtimes. She is a certified trainer and also coordinates the Clinical MA Program at the Department of Psychology. Her teaching encompasses clinical psychology, infant and toddler mental health, and clinical supervision, specifically in relation to postgraduate theses.
