Biography

John Weber is a professor at the School of Pharmacy at Memorial University of Newfoundland. He completed his B.S. in Biology/Psychology at Eastern Michigan University, followed by an M.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Montana. He obtained his Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the Medical College of Virginia. After completing a postdoctoral fellowship at Erasmus University Rotterdam, he served as an Assistant Professor at Erasmus Medical Center from 2003 to 2006. He joined the School of Pharmacy in November 2006 and has since focused on neuropharmacology and neurodegenerative diseases, specifically examining the cellular mechanisms underlying ataxia and the effects of adolescent ethanol exposure. His research also explores neuroinflammatory responses and the potential neuroprotective properties of dietary compounds, particularly polyphenols found in berries.
