Biography

Johnatan (Yonatan) Aljadeff received his BSc in Physics from Tel-Aviv University and was awarded a Fulbright fellowship to support his doctoral studies in Physics at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). After completing his PhD, he worked as a postdoctoral scholar at the University of Chicago, Imperial College London, and the Weizmann Institute of Science. His research focuses on theoretical models of neurons and neuronal networks to better understand brain organization and function. He employs modeling alongside computational analyses of experimental data to explore a broad set of problems related to how the brain forms and maintains representations of the world, the strategies chosen for these representations, and the learning processes linked to synaptic plasticity. Aljadeff emphasizes collaboration with experimentalists and investigates diverse animal models, including in vitro experiments with rodents and in vivo electrophysiology studies involving bats engaging in naturalistic behaviors. He is passionate about supporting international students and serves as a point of contact for those seeking guidance.
