Biography

Dr. Johnson Li began his research in quantitative methods after studying for a Master of Philosophy at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He conducted and published studies addressing bias in behavioral data, particularly in situations where range restrictions occur, such as admissions and job selections. His research interests further expanded during his Ph.D. at the University of Alberta, where he collaborated with peers to advance measurement models including cognitive diagnostic modeling, computer-adaptive testing, and item response theory. After completing his Ph.D., he took a tenure-track assistant professorship at the University of Hong Kong's Faculty of Education before joining the University of Manitoba's psychology department. Dr. Li's role involves conducting research to advance quantitative methods in psychology, advising students on data analysis and interpretation, and teaching various undergraduate and graduate courses on design methods in psychology. He currently serves as an Associate Professor and Chair of the Quantitative Methods section of the Canadian Psychological Association.
