Biography

Jon Sunnerfjell holds a PhD in Sociology. His dissertation, titled 'Un-learning Labour? Activating Unemployed Industrial Community', ethnographically explored how an industrial town sought to adapt unemployed individuals to normative ideals encompassing concepts of employability and entrepreneurship. In addition to his dissertation, Jon has published social science research focusing on coaching programs for the unemployed and coding disabilities within the Swedish Public Employment Service. His research interests are rooted in working life, sociological organization theory, governance, and self-governance. He is currently involved in a research project titled 'Back to Work', which studies post-retirement work in the senior staffing industry. Jon has taught theoretical and methodological courses in sociology, work science, and human resource programs, and is currently teaching sociology courses in a work science program and supervising bachelor's and master's theses in sociology, work science, and human resource studies.
