Jon Weber is an Instructor of Percussion at Michigan State University College of Music, where he teaches applied percussion lessons, percussion ensemble, and the award-winning Michigan State Drumline. He has presented and performed in the United States, Colombia, Cuba, and Taiwan. Weber has conducted clinics at the Collegiate Band Directors National Association Symposium and the Taiwan World Percussion Championship, among other notable events. He serves as co-director for the MSU Percussion Ensemble, which has been selected to perform at the Percussive Arts Society International Conventions in 2013, 2017, and 2025. His performance credits include orchestras and ensembles such as the Flint Symphony Orchestra, Grand Rapids Symphony, and Santa Clara Vanguard. In addition to performing various concerti, Weber has been active in recordings related to world fusion and chamber music. He founded and directs the Michigan State University salsa band, Salsa Verde, and currently performs with the salsa band Orquesta Ritmo. As the Percussion Division Coordinator for the Music Summer Camp at Michigan State University, he leads the percussion faculty and contributes to the development of young musicians. Weber’s compositions and arrangements, including his piece 'X Machine,' are published and have been performed by drumlines nationwide. He is a Yamaha Performing Artist and endorses Zildjian, Vic Firth, and Remo products.
