Professor Dr. Jonas Hallström

Biography

Jonas Hallström is a Professor at Linköping University, primarily focused on technology education with a strong emphasis on research related to teaching and learning in technological domains. His areas of interest include historical, philosophical, and cultural perspectives on science and technology, as well as the impact of digital tools and digitalization on education. Hallström explores the assessment and governance within schools and investigates how these elements influence the knowledge content related to technology. He is particularly concerned with the historical emergence of technology knowledge in educational settings, epistemology of the subject, and the attitudes towards technology among students and teachers. His research also addresses design issues in STEM education, gender inclusivity in technology, and authentic learning models. As a leader in the TESER (Swedish National Graduate School in Science and Technology Education Research), he plays a significant role in advancing research and educational practices in technology education.
