Jonathan P. Edwards is a social scientist, public health professional, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Peer Specialist, and Certified Personal Medicine Coach. He serves as adjunct faculty at Columbia University School of Social Work and as a clinical instructor at the Yale School of Medicine Program for Recovery and Community Health (PRCH). Jonathan has led the largest peer support workforce in the New York City Hospital system and has contributed significantly to the development of the peer support workforce. In 2015, he was employed by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, where he managed a portfolio of substance use prevention, treatment, and vocational support programs. With over 30 years of personal substance use recovery, he has a breadth of lived expertise in peer support development, public health, and social work. Jonathan has published research on job satisfaction and supervision practices and has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed articles. He has presented his research both nationally and internationally, contributing to the development of National Model Standards for Peer Support Certification. Jonathan holds a Ph.D. and M.Phil. in Social Welfare from the CUNY Graduate Center, an MSW from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College, and a BA in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the City College of the City University of New York.
