Biography

Jonathan Gunn is an accomplished clarinetist and educator with a diverse career as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral performer. He has held prominent positions including Associate Principal Eb Clarinet with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and Principal Clarinetist of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic. Gunn has performed as a guest Principal Clarinet with several major orchestras, such as the Chicago, Houston, and Baltimore Symphony Orchestras, as well as the Houston Grand Opera. His festival engagements include prestigious events like Tanglewood and Aspen, where he served as Principal Clarinetist. Gunn has been a featured soloist with the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra and has performed internationally in countries including China and Taiwan. He is also dedicated to teaching the next generation of clarinetists through masterclasses and as a faculty member at various summer academies. Currently, he is Associate Professor of Clarinet at the Butler School of Music at the University of Texas at Austin, after previous faculty positions at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. His commitment to education and performance continues to influence clarinetists worldwide.
