Biography

Josh joined the Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta as an Assistant Professor in Mathematics Education in 2022. He has previously taught mathematics education courses at Brock University and the University of Lethbridge and has experience as a secondary mathematics teacher. His research broadly focuses on students' and teachers' experiences with classroom mathematics. He has specific interests in understanding spatial reasoning skills as they relate to mathematical problem solving, the concept of embodiment in the learning experience, and how mathematics can enable students to flourish in the classroom. He currently teaches EDEL 316, which is a curriculum and pedagogy course focused on elementary school mathematics and involves strategies and planning resources to support student learning.
