Dr. Joshua Childs

Biography

Joshua Childs is an Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy at the University of Texas at Austin. His research focuses on the role of inter-organizational networks and cross-sector collaborations to address complex educational issues. He investigates collaborative approaches involving local, state, and national organizations aimed at enhancing academic achievement and opportunities for students in urban and rural schools. Additionally, he explores ways to improve student engagement and school attendance and the impact of interscholastic athletics on academic outcomes. Dr. Childs is a Co-Principal Investigator for the Expanding Computing Education Pathways Alliance, which consists of a consortium of 30 states dedicated to broadening participation in computer science. His educational background includes a Ph.D. in Learning Sciences and Policy from the University of Pittsburgh, an M.A. in Educational Foundations, Policy, and Practice from the University of Colorado-Boulder, and a B.A. in History and Elementary Education from the University of Tulsa. He has published numerous articles in esteemed educational journals and has received several awards for his contributions to educational equity and policy development.
