Biography

Joshua Gang joined UC Berkeley's English department in 2015 and will be an affiliate faculty member in the Department of Philosophy starting in Fall 2024. His research interests include 20th-21st-century British literature and various philosophical themes, particularly moral philosophy, philosophy of mind, and literary criticism. He has published works such as 'Behaviorism, Consciousness, Literary Mind,' which was released by Johns Hopkins University Press in November 2021. His article 'Derek Jarman Everything Case' appears in the Summer 2022 issue of Critical Inquiry. Gang has contributed to several journals, including ELH, and PMLA. His current projects focus on the intersection of moral philosophy, aesthetic value, and modern British fiction. He is set to teach English 45C and English 100 in 2024-2025, focusing on literature from the mid-19th to mid-20th centuries and British and Irish fiction, respectively.
