Dr. Joshua Margolis

Biography

Joshua D. Margolis is the James Dinan Elizabeth Miller Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School. He serves as Unit Head for Organizational Behavior and Chair of the Program for Leadership Development. His research and teaching focus on leadership and ethics, with an emphasis on the distinctive ethical challenges managers face in complex situations. Professor Margolis has taught courses on Leadership, Organizational Behavior, Corporate Accountability, and Field Immersion Experiences in Leadership Development. He has published in notable journals including the Academy of Management Journal, Harvard Business Review, and Administrative Science Quarterly. His book, co-authored with James P. Walsh, titled 'People Profits: Search Link Company's Social Financial Performance,' explores the relationship between a company's social and financial performance. Professor Margolis's ongoing research centers on how businesses and individuals navigate moral adversity and address ethical challenges in various professional settings. He holds a B.A. from Yale University, an A.M. in Sociology, and a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from Harvard University. His notable awards include the Robert F. Greenhill Award and the Outstanding Publication in Organizational Behavior Award from the Academy of Management, recognizing his contributions to the field.
