Biography

Joyce Dorado is an Associate Dean of Research-Practice Partnerships at the University of California, Berkeley's School of Social Welfare. She is a nationally recognized expert in developing trauma-informed, equitable, and healing organizations in schools and youth-serving systems. With approximately 30 years of experience working with children, youth, and families affected by trauma, she has provided numerous presentations and trainings focused on complex trauma for over 20 years. Dorado has served on the California State Supreme Court Justice’s statewide steering committee for the Keeping Kids in School Courts initiative and has played a significant role in the Trauma-Informed Systems Initiative with the San Francisco Department of Public Health. As a lead curriculum developer and master trainer, she consults on the Bay Area collaboration Trauma Transformed. Dorado has also been a lead consultant for the Clearinghouse for Applied Research and Education (CLEAR) in California, collaborating with Washington State University and UCSF's HEARTS program. She has authored several publications and has been invited to speak at various regional, national, and international conferences addressing the impact of trauma in schools.
