Dr. Judy Wajcman

Biography

Judy Wajcman is an Emeritus Professor at the London School of Economics and Political Science, where she held the Anthony Giddens Chair in Sociology. She is a prominent member of the British Academy and has served as a visiting professor at the Oxford Internet Institute. Her research focuses on the intersections of sociology, work, technology, and gender theory, with a particular interest in how these fields influence employment and organizational dynamics. Wajcman's work has been published in multiple languages, and she has received numerous accolades throughout her career, including lifetime achievement awards from the American Sociological Association and the Society for Social Studies of Science. She was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Geneva. In addition to her academic roles, Wajcman is engaged in initiatives at the Alan Turing Institute, where she leads a project on women in data science and artificial intelligence. Her significant contributions to the field are widely recognized, and she has held fellowships at prestigious institutions, including the Mellon Fellowship at the Stanford University Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences. In the 2025-2026 academic year, she will be a Fellow at the Princeton Institute for Advanced Study.
