Dr. Julian Jara Ettinger

Biography

Julian Jara-Ettinger is an Associate Professor at Yale University in the Department of Psychology. He received his Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2016. His research aims to understand the complex forms of human social behavior and the representations and computations that underlie people's understanding. His work seeks to uncover the systems that emerge and develop as humans build machines with human-like social intelligence. At his lab, studies encompass a range of social phenomena, including fairness, linguistic communication, gesture, moral reasoning, and pedagogy. He tackles interdisciplinary problems by combining computational modeling, eye-tracking, cross-cultural research, and developmental studies.
